Two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants were killed in a 15-hour gunfight with security forces in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Saturday.
The army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles and the police's Special Operations Group surrounded Auwdora village, around 35 km from here, late on Friday after
getting information about the presence of armed militants.
“The hiding terrorists were challenged to surrender, upon which they opened fire at the surrounding troops, triggering an encounter,” said army spokesperson Lt Col JS Brar.
The militants, Ashiq Ahmad Shah and Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh, both in their twenties, joined the militant group at the peak of unrest in 2010.
