Nearly a month after a 15-year-old boy went missing from his house at Sewa Nagar, the city police on Saturday revealed that he was murdered allegedly by two persons from the same locality. Both the accused were arrested.

The accused have been identified as 19-year-old Mohit Yadav and his uncle Arvind Singh Yadav.

According to the police, the two accused had eyed the retirement fund of Rs. 7.5 lakh of victim Rahul Singh's father, Devender Singh.

The police said that Mohit and Arvind took Rahul, a student of Class 9, with them on the pretext of showing him Ramlila at Ghanta Ghar on October 22 and slashed his throat with a knife before dumping the body at Bamheta village near NH-24.

"My uncle recently married a woman from Etah and wanted money to settle down. I came to know from Rahul's brother that his father received Rs. 7.5 lakh after his retirement. So, we both planned to get the amount as ransom and killed Rahul," Mohit told the police.

Though the victim's body was found last month, the police cremated it after being unable to identify it.

"Unable to identify the body, police cremated it after 72 hours," circle officer Praveen Ranjan Singh said. The victim's family had lodged a missing complaint at the Sihani Gate police station.
