The CBI, probing three murders including that of a deputy superintendent of police, has decided to interrogate former minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, who resigned following allegations of his involvement in the killings.

Highly-placed CBI sources said on Friday evidence was piling up against Raja Bhaiya and his supporters.

Raja Bhaiya is learnt to have met chief minister Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow on Friday. However, the details of the meeting, the first after his resignation, were not available.

Parveen Azad, wife of slain deputy superintendent of police Zia-ul-Haq, in her FIR had named Raja Bhaiya as a conspirator along with four others.

Raja Bhaiya had said he was in Lucknow on the day of the murders in Kunda, Pratapgarh, on March 2. However, the CBI is doubtful about this. http://www.hindustantimes.com/Images/Popup/2013/4/06_04_13_pg_10c.jpg

The family members of slain village pradhan Nanhe Yadav have also mounted pressure on the CBI to interrogate Raja Bhaiya.

Demanding action against him, they are on a hunger strike since Thursday and have threatened self-immolation on April 12 if their demands are not accepted.

Nanhe’s brother Pawan accused the CBI of shielding Raja Bhaiya and said the agency had been frequently harassing the slain person’s family members. Pawan also alleged supporters of Raja Bhaiya were threatening them.

The family has sent a memorandum to the CBI director on the issue.
