An injured man is taken to the hospital after a blast in Agra.
Ten days after the blast outside the Delhi high court, a bomb went off at 5.35pm in a private hospital, 6 km from the Taj Mahal, in the tourist city of Agra in Uttar Pradesh, injuring six people.
The explosion shattered windowpanes in the reception area of Jai hospital on the
Agra-Kanpur highway, where 10 to 15 people were seated in steel chairs.
Preliminary reports said the crude bomb may have been kept below one of the chairs at the hospital.
"There was a bang followed by smoke and chaos," said Gayatri Devi, 35, who had come from neighbouring Hathras town for her husband's treatment.
"The samples collected have been sent to a forensic lab in the city," said PK Tiwari, inspector general of police, Agra range.
The anti-terrorism squad, already in the city for training, reached the spot in no time.
"It was a low-intensity explosion. No traces of any circuit or timer were found," said GK Goswami, senior superintendent of police for the ATS.
A National Security Guard post-blast probe team has also been dispatched from Delhi.
