Five persons claiming themselves as members of ruling Samajwadi Party attacked a police officer and two constables posted at Nandgaon police outpost, SP (Rural) Anil Kumar Rai said on Monday.

Rai said the incident occurred when Sub-Inspector Brajesh Kumar, who is incharge of Nandgaon police outpost, refused to release a person belonging to Narsingh Thok village under Barsana police station last evening.

He said a police force lead by Deputy Superintendent of Police Ambesh Chandra Tyagi reached the spot and nabbed three of the attackers while two others escaped.
