Embattled Karnataka High Court chief justice P.D. Dinakaran has found a supporter in Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati.
On Saturday, Mayawati wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, requesting he intervene to ensure justice is done in the disproportionate assets case against
Dinakaran, who faces possible impeachment.
“The principle of natural justice is being overlooked,” Mayawati wrote in her letter. “Dinakaran should be given an opportunity to put across his point of view before any action is taken against him.”
Dinakaran belongs to the Dalit community, like Mayawati. Her party, the Bahujan Samaj Party, has been trying to establish a presence in Karnataka.
Law minister Veerappa Moily, said “Impeachment proceedings have started in the Rajya Sabha.”
