Disenchanted with the UPA, the Samajwadi Party seems to be in a hurry to completely distance itself from the Congress. A decision will be taken at the party’s national conclave from August 19-21.

The party doesn’t want to continue its “love-hate” relationship with the Congress any more as it has caused confusion among its cadres in UP.

SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhury told HT that a movement would be launched against the Central and state governments. He said the soft posture of the Congress towards the ruling BSP was also unacceptable to the party.

“Either you be with us or with them,” Chaudhury said.

Party chief Mulayam Singh’s stand on the Anil Ambani issue is also being seen as a fast-widening rift between the two parties. “The Agra conclave will give a fresh perspective to the party,” Chaudhury said.
