Within a week BJP national secretary Varun Gandhi was acquitted in yet another case of hate speech by the same Pilibhit court on Tuesday.

Varun made the allegedly provocative speech during his 2009 election campaign in his constituency Pilibhit.

Chief judicial magistrate Abdul Qayum cited “lack of evidence” for giving a clean chit to Varun.

Varun said after the verdict, “I welcome the decision. I shall continue working for a strong and united India.”

Significantly, in September Varun had written to the SP government to withdraw the cases as they were “politically motivated”.
