A local court in Chandigarh issued bailable warrants against IPL franchise owners of Kings XI Punjab, actress Preity Zinta and industrialists Ness Wadia and Mohit Burman, for failing to appear before it. The Registrar of Companies had filed the case after the owners failed to submit the
balance sheet and copy of annual returns of Kings XI Punjab required under the Companies Act.

The maximum penalty for both offences, under the Companies Act, is Rs. 500 per day each for the period of the default.

The district court issued the summons through bailable warrants for October 4.

In a message on social networking site Twitter, Zinta said, “Request to the media! Pls verify news before printing that Arrest warrents issued for me in court! This is absolutely false & malicious! (sic)”.

While Burman denied reports that any summons were issued to him, Wadia could not be immediately reached for comments.
