Senior Congress leaders Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Dijvijay Singh and Pramod Tiwari with party members from UP after a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner in New Delhi.
Sporting his trademark tri-colour ‘gamcha’ around his neck along with crisp spotless white Kurta and Pyjama, Pramod Tiwari, makes it a point to visit his constituency every fortnight. Son of a well-known advocate Late Sarju Prasad Tiwari of Sangramgarh in Pratapgarh, Tiwari has been
pursuing social service since his childhood days.

“I had seen my father surrounded by litigants as well as the poor seeking help. My father, generous at heart, never refused anyone who arrived at our doorsteps seeking help,” says Tiwari who started taking interest in politics while doing Intermediate from Jamuna Christian Inter College in Allahabad. Claiming that while Sangramgarh is his Janam Bhumi, Tiwari says, he chose Rampur Khas assembly constituency as his Karm bhumi because the people of the area had never seen development before 1980’s. Ask him if he is ready for elections? “I have already won on eight consecutive occasions. My constituency residents are my family members and will remain so till my last breath. This is my ninth election and after victory I would apply for a place in Guinness Book of World Records. One constituency, one party and victory all the way is certainly a rarity,” said the MLA.
