In a desperate move to save the government, Karnataka BJP issued a whip to all its MLAs on Wednesday, directing them to attend both the houses till the end of the ongoing budget session.
“A whip has been issued to all BJP MLAs, including the two MLAs (Vital Katakadonda and D Suresh) who submitted their resignations to the speaker,” said party’s chief whip Siddu Savadi.
The ruling party is facing threats of poaching from former BJP strongman and Karnataka Janata Party chief BS Yeddyurappa, who has mounted the offensive asking his supporters to submit resignations ahead of budget.
BJP now has 105 members, excluding the speaker, in the assembly of 224.
CM Jagadish Shettar will present his maiden and the BJP’s last budget on February 8, as assembly elections are likely in April-May.
