Six people were killed and 50 injured when a bus ferrying them fell into a gorge at Valparai near Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, police said Sunday.
"The state government bus was carrying around 57 people last (Saturday) night. Six people lost their lives. The injured were taken to hospitals in Coimbatore and Pollachi," a police official in Valparai told IANS.
The driver of the bus seemed to have lost control while negotiating a bend on the mountain road, police said.
Valparai is 100 km from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu.
