A former general secretary of the owners' association of the Qutab Plaza shopping complex in DLF City (Phase 1) is drawing the ire of the body for illegally constructing four rooms on a green belt.
The executive member concerned was dismissed from his post by the general body on March 1 following complaints of financial irregularities. The executive committee was also dissolved and fresh elections will be held on March 31.
According to the rules, former committee members cannot use the association's funds for any work.
The owners have now written a letter to the town and country planning department of Gurgaon that owns common areas in the complex. Permission from the department is necessary before any construction is undertaken.
"The four rooms have been constructed in front of Barista, Lohiya Mart and in Central Park," said Dr Satish Chillar, one of the shopowners at the plaza.
On learning that the rooms were being built from the association's funds, the members called for an emergency meeting on March 1 and expelled him the post of general secretary.
"The construction is going on and the former member continues to disobey rules and threaten us. We are still waiting for the town and country planning department's reply and have also written to the local police. We also met police commissioner Alok Mittal last week seeking his help," added Chillar.
Police and officials of the town and country planning department refused to comment.
