Badshahpur village almost turned into a battle ground on Thursday afternoon after Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) officials came to demolish two buildings, which they claimed did not have approved plans.

Nearly a hundred police personnel from three police stations — Badshahpur, Bhondsi and Sohna — accompanied the demolition squad, led by MCG joint commissioner Veena Hooda.

While one of the constructions was razed to the ground easily, the demolition of the two-storey RCC Building beside Ekta Hospital led to a skirmish between the cops and the local people.

The police personnel had to use force to take control of the situation as a large crowd tried to prevent the demolition.

The owner of the building, Nikku Yadav, and his family members tried to register their protest physically, but the police whisked them and a few others away before any clash could take place.

“We had detained the family of the owner for the time being so that no untoward incident could occur due to flared passions. Later they were released,” said Dr Hitesh, the DSP of Manesar, who is also acting as the ACP of Sohna.

“The staff report said that these two buildings were illegal as they had not got their plans passed by the civic authority. We had served them demolition notices a week in advance,” said Hooda.

However, neighbours of Yadav claimed that no such notice had been served. They said that they had got a show-cause notice on Wednesday, which said nothing about any demolition.
