Police officials said Rakesh Singh alias Jaggi, resident of Sector 23, informed them around 12:45am on Friday that thieves had stolen his SUV, which was parked outside his house in Sector 23.

Two officials from the Palam Vihar police station immediately swung into action.

The victim informed the police that as soon as the thieves started the car’s ignition, he received a SMS on his mobile phone. The accused broke the car’s left window to enter the vehicle and later fled towards Najafgarh.

Within no time, the victim hired a private car and asked the police to follow the SUV while tracking the car’s movement through the GPS device. The thieves reached the toll plaza near Bareilley (UP) and got stuck in a traffic jam.

But before the police could nab the accused, the thieves fled leaving the car behind. Though the police tried to chase them, they could not succeed. The car was later handed over to the victim.
