Fresh spells of rain inundated several villages in Upper Assam, even as Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Nagaon, Kamrup, Barpeta and Nagaon districts remained worst-hit, officials said on Saturday.
Although there was no report of loss of life, district administrations evacuated affected people to higher ground. Among the freshly inundated areas were Majuli, Jorhat, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur and Sibsagar officials said, adding that the state government announced measures to provide relief to the affected people and instructed the deputy commissioners of districts accordingly.
More than seven lakh people have been affected by the latest, third wave of floods to hit Assam this year.
Arunachal flood situation grim
The flood situation in fourdistricts of Arunachal Pradesh also remained grim on Saturday with all major rivers and their tributaries in the state flowing above the danger-mark.
Water entered all low lying areas of Lohit, Dibang Valley, Changlang and East Siang districts, but the death toll remained one.
