Chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday put his weight behind star boxer Vijender Singh, saying that he did not believe that the 2008 Beijing Olympics medallist could be involved in drug peddling.
Talking to mediapersons in Jhajjar, Hooda said law should be allowed to take its own course.
Vijender Singh's name has cropped up in a 26-kg heroin drug seizure case, involving NRI Anoop Singh Kahlon and Vijender's NIS-Patiala roommate and friend Ram Singh 'Ruby'. Ruby had on Saturday claimed that he and Vijender had tried heroin, procured from Kahlon for free, on a couple of occasions.
The claims have been rubbished by 27-year-old Vijender, who is a deputy superintendent in Haryana police.
