19th private university comes up in UP

Deriving its name from the idea of ‘think globally and act locally’, a private Glocal University has forayed into the state. This 19th private university in Uttar Pradesh has also started enrolling students for its first academic session beginning August.


The Glocal University is a new UGC recognised institution based in Sahranpur. It has seven major schools namely the school of technology, the school of business, the school of computer science, the school of media and cultural studies, the school of accounting and commerce, the school of legal studies and research and school of education and research.

The university promises to be a centre of academic excellence. The undergraduate courses being offered by the university will be of four-year duration. These include one year of industry training to hone skills of the students.

“The university has established the state-of-the-art infrastructure and offering a broad range of graduate, postgraduate and doctorate courses,” says Amir Ullah Khan, president of Glocal University, who heads the institution. It will train students to become skilled professionals employable globally.

The admission forms for various courses are available on the university campus and its offices set up in Lucknow and Dehradun . It can be downloaded from the university website also. The fee for various courses will be around Rs. 2 lakh per annum which is inclusive of tuition, hostel and mess fees.
