Along with his father Kamta Pal, who is yet to be arrested, Ajay is one of the main accused in the case. A contractor Rakesh Pal has also been taken into custody. The brothers confessed to their crime during interrogation. The CBI has recovered the weapon, along with five cartridges, used in Nanhe's murder. In his FIR, Nanhe's brother Phool Chand had named Kamta and Ajay along with two others, Ajit and Rajiv, for the murder due to old enmity over land dispute.

For the recovery of weapon, the CBI team took Ajay and Vijay to village Katra to raid the house of contractor Ram Kumar Pal, a close associate of Kamta Pal, from where Rakesh was nabbed. Sources said Rakesh led the team to the house of one Prema Devi from where the weapon was recovered.

With these arrests, the CBI now hopes to unravel the conspiracy behind the murder of circle officer, Kunda Zia-ul-Haque and Nanhe's brother Suresh Yadav.

Except former minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya, the CBI has already interrogated other accused in Haque's murder. Raja Bhaiyya is also likely to be summoned soon for interrogation.

Parveen Azad, the wife of the slain CO, had named Gulshan Azad, Hariom Shrivastav, Rohit Singh, Guddu Singh and Raja Bhaiyya in connection with the murder of her husband.
