Even as the killers of former MLA Survesh Singh continued to elude the special task force (STF) sleuths, a group of policemen have come out in support of the station officer (SO) named in the murder.

Threatening to resign en masse, the group of policemen has announced to hold a demonstration in favour of SO Vijay Singh.

“The public of Jianpur intervened in police duty. SO Vijay Singh exhibited courage and saved lives of several police men and charges against him should be withdrawn,” said Brijendra Singh, chairman of non-gazetted police welfare association.

Singh said they have written to the CM, governor, and director general of police in this matter.

Meanwhile, the slain leader’s brother Santosh Singh gave police four days to arrest the murderers, failing which his family would start a fast unto death.

The police have provided security to Santosh and his cousin.

In another development, three cases against ‘ thousands’ of persons were lodged by police on Sunday in connection with the violence and arson that followed the murder of the former MLA on Friday.
