A minor girl was allegedly raped by a youth during a marriage ceremony in Karhaitha area under the Bazarkhala police area. The accused, Brijesh, was arrested after the police lodged an FIR on Thursday.
The girl, daughter of a security guard and a resident of cantonment area, had come to attend the marriage of her cousin sister. According to the victim, while the ceremony was going on, Brijesh, an electrician by profession, lured her to come along and took her inside a three-wheeler parked near the pandal. The girl was allegedly raped in the vehicle.
Family members came to the spot when she raised an alarm. A police complaint was then filed. The girl was taken to the hospital for medical examination.
