In what may delay the revision of power tariff for the year 2013-14, the UP Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) has again failed to produce its audited accounts to power regulator.

The UPPCL and its subsidiary discoms had sought time till February 15 to file the audited balance sheets up to 2010-11 to the UP Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC). But they failed to meet the deadline once again.

“The commission has not received the audited balance sheets from UPPCL/discoms and now we will take the next decision on Monday,” said a source in the UPERC. As mandated by the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity order, the UPERC has insisted that the UPPCL submit audited accounts for claiming any tariff revision for the year 2013-14.

The UPPCL has so far been claiming tariff revisions against estimated and presumed accounts and figures.

UP slams Centre for cut in NREGS funds

And given Union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh’s recent criticism, the outlook for this fiscal year may not be too good.
