Nearly two months after deciding to hold its state working committee meet featuring its current poster boy Narendra Modi and BJP chief Rajnath Singh at Mathura in September, the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party is still waiting for a confirmation from Modi on dates.

Modi is expected to meet BJP chief Rajnath Singh over dinner at the latter’s residence in New Delhi on Thursday.

The state unit is hoping that the dates will get finalized during the meet.

BJP sources said three “sets of dates” had been received from Modi’s office. A senior leader, however, said the state working committee might be held in Vrindavan on September 15 and 16.

But these are just expectations as Modi and Rajnath are expected to take a final call on when to plan the BJP campaign chief’s ‘entry’ into the most populous state, from where the party hopes polarization would help reap rich poll dividend.

Due to a local festival, Mathura and Vrindavan are going to be “choc-a-bloc” till September 13, a BJP leader said. “That’s the festival in which devotees take a lot of interest and hence one should expected Modi in Mathura after this,” he said.

Modi is expected to address over 10000 BJP workers and leaders at the state working committee meet.

The itinerary for Modi’s rallies across UP too could be chalked out at the meet, in which BJP would chart out the blueprint for its ‘Mission UP’.

Along with Modi, the BJP is also going to rely on its youngest national general secretary Varun Gandhi in a big way.

Both Modi and Varun, along with party chief Rajnath Singh, former chief minister Kalyan Singh and firebrand sadhvi Uma Bharti, may then be seen addressing rallies in the state.

Before that, the election campaign committee headed by Modi would be in Lucknow on September 11 to consult people on what all should be included in the chargesheet against the Congress-led UPA II government that Modi has asked them to prepare.

The committee is visiting all major cities across the country to connect with the people for the purpose. However, chief spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said that people could register their suggestions by logging on to www.bjp.org/upachargesheet.
