According to the Bandra police, the incident took place around 2.45am at Byramji Jeejeebhoy Road when a speeding Hyundai Verna (KA 53 M 6667) crashed into an autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction.

The collision took place a few metres away from actor Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow, said the police.

The Bandra police took the injured persons to nearby Bhabha hospital.

“The auto driver Arjun Gupta, 38, sustained a neck injury while the passengers, Baidnath Shahu, 35, and Ranjeet Khanvilkar, 40, fractured their legs,” said an officer from Bandra police station, requesting anonymity as he is not authorised to speak to the media.

The police have registered a case against the accused for rash driving, causing grievous hurt and endangering life of others under the sections of Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act.

The police have seized the four-wheeler and are now tracing the owner of the car. Further investigations are ongoing, said the police.

This is the second accident in Bandra in two days. On Wednesday, a 38-year-old man drove a Honda Accord at 100 kmph, damaged five vehicles at Linking Road. Two persons were killed while two women sustained injuries in the accident.
