Investigations revealed that the duo, Aslam Amjad Khan, 32, and Henry Samuel Jacob, 29, had also disfigured her body before disposing of it.

Jacob works as a waiter in a country liquor shop located close to a boiled egg stall the girl’s father ran in Wadala.

On March 3, she had met her father at the stall, taken money from him for food, then gone missing.

“Jacob knew the girl and use to give her money to buy snacks. On March 3, a drunk Khan and Jacob asked the girl to come away with them. The duo took her to a secluded location near the under-construction monorail station and raped, then murdered her,” said Nagesh Jadhav, senior police inspector of the Wadala TT police station.

The police, who are now ascertaining how she was killed, said they two mutilated her body with a stone. The girl had willingly agreed to go with them, as she knew Jacob, police said. Khan was Jacob’s friend and stayed in the area.

Six days after the girl went missing, a watchman spotted her body. Her parents subsequently approached the police and described her, and the body matched. The police, however, did not hand it over to them till the investigations reached a conclusive stage. “We will hand the body to the family on Saturday,” said Jadhav.

Additional commissioner of police (central region) Praveen Salunke confirmed the development. “The accused killed her because they feared she would tell her parents.”
