The Bollywood assistant director who was arrested on charges of drink driving and misbehaving with the police on Friday now faces the prospect of losing his passport. The police plan to get Mark Samuel’s passport revoked after they found on Saturday that he did not have a driving licence.
Samuel, who worked on Dabangg 2, was caught driving in a drunken state with his friend Vidushi Sood at Jogesh-wari at 3.30am on Friday. The duo had allegedly got into an argument and misbehaved with cops when they were apprehended after a 4-km chase.
Samuel, who did not have his driving licence with him on Friday, initially tried to portray that he was not carrying it. However, the police later found that Samuel did not have a driving license.
“Medical tests have confirmed that Samuel was driving under the influence of alcohol. We will now ask our senior officers to take appropriate steps to revoke Samuel’s passport,” said Vitthal Damugade, senior inspector, Jogeshwari police station.
The move is in accordance with the Mumbai police commissioner Satyapal Singh’s recent circular, which recommends revoking passport of those who attack police personnel. The circular states that the employment exchange would also be approached to make it difficult for an offender to get job. Also, a look-out notice would be issued at all ports and airports to deny the accused from travelling abroad.
