In a scene straight out of the movies, the police on Friday arrested a Bollywood assistant director on charges of drink driving and misbehaving with the police, after a four-km chase that lasted 15 minutes.
At around 3.30 am, the accused, Mark Samuel, who worked as an assistant director on the film Dabangg 2, and his friend Vidushi Sood were driving tow-ards Jogeshwari after a party when they spotted a police van at the intersection of the Jogesh-wari Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) and the Western Express High-way.
Fearing they would be app-rehended during the nakabandi, Samuel, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, made a quick U-turn and sped away, police said.
This roused the suspicion of the police, who raced after Sam-uel’s vehicle. They also alerted the main control room, which tipped off police stations in the area.
The chase ended 15 minutes later at the Behram-baug area of Jogeshwari, where the police compelled Samuel to stop his vehicle.
When Samuel and Sood were asked to accompany them to the police station, they allegedly protested and misbehaved with the cops, police said.
“Samuel, who was drunk, knew he would be pulled up, so he tried to flee,” said VR Damugade, senior inspector, Jogeshwari police. “Samuel also did not have his licence with him.”
The accused were brought to the Jogeshwari police station and taken into custody. Prelimi-nary investigations suggested that Samuel was driving under the influence of alcohol.
