A day after a gang of five robbed two men of 1.4kg gold worth Rs. 40 lakh and Rs. 1.86 lakh cash in Ghatkopar (East), a similar incident took place in the area on Sunday.

Five unidentified men robbed jewellers Mangal Omprakash Lodha, 28, and his younger brother Deepak of silver ornaments worth Rs. 4.5 lakh at gunpoint.

According to the Pantnagar police, the two were on their way to their house in Ghatkopar (West) from Vashi, along with an employee.

Around 3pm, an Innova and a two-wheeler intercepted them near Pramanik stores on Tilak Road. "Two men broke the front windows of the car and threatened the victims. They forced them to open the boot of the car, where the bag with the jewellery was kept," said Suresh Nirmal, senior inspector.

"One of the attackers fired two rounds in the air before fleeing," he added.  The gang escaped with Rs5,000 cash, silver jewellery weighing around 10kg, including 250 silver coins.
