A teacher and the principal of Dadar-based Antonio D’Silva High School were arrested on Monday for allegedly harassing and humiliating two six-year-old students last week.

The duo was presented in court and released on bail subsequently. The victims’ parents had alleged that on Wednesday, the teacher, Cinderella Pereira, angry with the two children for getting into a fight, had tied their hands with a chain, paraded them in front of other classes and asked them to clean the school toilet.

The parents had alleged that principal Carel Pereira did not intervene and acted as an accomplice, the Shivaji Park police said.

“We recorded one of the children’s statements on Monday in which he confirmed the allegations made by his father. We then arrested the teacher and the principal,” said Dhananjay Kulkarni, DCP (zone 5).

A police officer probing the case said they would record the statements of other children in the class. “We will send plainclothes women officers to record the statements.”

The accused have been booked under the Juvenile Justice Act for cruelty and the IPC for wrongful restraint.
