While the Sewri-Worli elevated road got a go-ahead, the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) road connectivity projects and the Vasai creek bridge construction were given a push.

Chaired by chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, the governing board on Saturday cleared the Rs4,028-crore annual budget of MMRDA.

A large chunk of the budget funds were allotted to big-ticket projects like the Mumbai Metro, monorail and Mumbai Urban Infrastructure Project (MUIP) and Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP).

The MMRDA has allotted an additional Rs600 crore for the first corridor of monorail from Chembur to Jacob Circle, which is expected to be operational from September. The proposed metro rail corridors were also given Rs608 crore, of which Rs500 crore has been reserved for the Rs. 24,500 crore Colaba- SEEPZ line.
