The Shiv Sena has come out strongly against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray for his criticism of Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar, calling it inappropriate.

In his weekly column Rokthok, Sena MP Sanjay Raut, who also doubles as the executive editor of Sena mouthpiece Saamna, said that language used by Raj against Pawar was inappropriate.

“It was alright for Balasaheb Thackeray to criticise Pawar as he was senior to him, but the same cannot be said of Raj. Even Balasaheb would not have approved of this action,” said Raut.

Raut went to the extent of saying that although Sharad Pawar was not fully clean, even those criticising him were no saints. He reminded his readers that Raj was responsible for the win of current Congress-NCP dispension in the 2009 assembly elections. During his rally at Jalna on Saturday Raj had criticised Pawar blaming him for the drought in the state.

Meanwhile the NCP government on Sunday withdrew its ‘threat’ to ban Raj from entering Pune, ending speculation over a likely showdown between two parties in the wake of MNS chief's diatribe against NCP leader and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar.
