Raosaheb Kharat, agriculture officer of Vikramgad in Thane, has been arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs. 85,000 from his office employee.

Vilas Chougule, deputy superintendent, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Thane, said, "The payment of Balasaheb Satre, an agriculture supervisor, was pending for seven months as Kharat had not sent his bill to the head office."

"When Satre asked Kharat to clear his bill, he asked Satre to pay Rs. 85,000 as bribe," said Chougule.

The officer agreed to Kharat's condition and then approached the ACB.

A trap was laid and Kharat was arrested while accepting the money.

The ACB officials also found Rs. 5 lakh in his vehicle, which were seized.
