A 40-year-old eunuch was found murdered with her throat slit in a house in northeast Delhi's Nand Nagri on Wednesday morning.

The incident came to light around 9am and the deceased was identified as Priya, a native of Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly, who was staying alone in a rented accommodation there.

Police have registered a case of murder at the local police station and are investigating the case from personal enmity and other angles.

Police suspect the involvement of someone known to the victim as they found that the entry into the house was "friendly". After murdering Priya, police said, the accused locked the room from outside.

A senior police officer said the matter came to light after Priya's landlord Laxmi Sadan peeped through the window and saw her bloodied body on the bed. He had not seen Priya for the past two days.

"We have ruled out the possibility of robbery as the motive behind the murder. The entry was friendly and nothing was missing from the house. Even the victim's mobile phone was found in the house," the senior police officer adding several friends and neighbours of the victim have been questioned in connection with the case.
