A group of over 200 women activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday attacked Union minister Shashi Tharoor’s car while he was on the way to attend an event at the Talkatora stadium.
The BJP activists encircled the junior human resource development minister’s car around 12.20pm and began shouting slogans. They then rained blows on the vehicle, damaging it. They were protesting the alleged lack of security of women in the Capital, police said.
Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit and Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar were also at the event to celebrate International Women’s Day.
“Policemen cleared the way and Tharoor got into the venue through another gate,” said an officer.
