The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday nabbed a senior official of the Delhi Fire Services for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.1 lakh from a businessman for giving clearance to a residential building in Lajpat Nagar, south Delhi.
The arrested person, assistant divisional officer V Rajan, had asked the businessman to pay the bribe in lieu of issuing a no-objection certificate to a residential structure built by the latter in Lajpat Nagar.
The businessman got in touch with the CBI's anti-corruption wing, which swung into action and caught the accused while accepting a bribe of Rs.1 lakh.
The agency also searched the office of the fire services.
