A 14-year-old boy has been apprehended in Ranhola, west Delhi, for allegedly raping his neighbour, a Class 9 student. Police said the victim studies in a government school.
A senior police officer said the incident came to light on Tuesday when the girl and her parents approached the Ranhola police station and filed a complaint against the teenager.
In her statement, the victim told the police that the boy had asked her to accompany him to Gole Market for shopping on February 27 to which she had agreed.
“On reaching there, the accused took her to his friend’s room and raped her. He threatened to kill her and her family members if she told anyone about the incident,” the officer said.
The girl kept quiet for a few days, but she finally told her parents who approached the police and registered a complaint.
On the basis of the complaint, a case of rape was registered and the victim was sent to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital where her medical examination confirmed rape.
The teenager was apprehended and produced before the juvenile justice board, which sent him to an observation home, the officer said.
