A 12-year-old physically challenged schoolgirl was allegedly abducted, raped and held hostage at a factory for two days before she was finally rescued, police said on Wednesday.

The victim — an east Delhi resident and a Class 8 student — was abducted by a 22-year-old neighbour on February 10. Police confirmed that she has a hearing impairment.

“Ranjit, a labourer at a plastic factory, lured her away from her house on the pretext of showing her the machines at his workplace,” said an officer. “As soon as they reached, he took her to a secluded area, where he forced himself on her.”

The girl’s parents approached the police hours later and alleged that Ranjit might have had something to do with her disappearance.

The culprit also physically assaulted her before tying her with a plastic rope.

“On Monday morning, Ranjit subjected her to sexual assault yet again,” said the officer.

Later, the cops nabbed Ranjit from outside the factory.

“During questioning, he admitted to abducting and sexually assaulting her. He took us to where he held her hostage. A medical examination confirmed she was raped,” the officer said.
