Delhi cop shot at while chasing criminal

A 40-year-old Delhi Police head constable was shot at and injured while chasing and arresting a criminal here Wednesday night, police said.

Shyam Lal, deputed with the crime branch, was shot around 9.30 pm in west Delhi's Janakpuri area. He received a bullet injury in hand, police said.

He was part of a police team chasing notorious criminal Arvind alias Pushkar, who was involved in eight cases including murder, police said.

Delhi: HIV patient gets 7 years' jail for robbery

A Delhi court has sentenced an HIV-positive man and his wife to seven years in jail for robbery and house trespassing. The court said there were no grounds for leniency on account of health since such crimes were on the rise and needed to be curbed.
