The crime branch of Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested a wanted criminal, a close associate of arrested extortionist Neeraj Bawana, who was involved in the conspiracy of the recent foiled escape attempt of their associate Vikas Laggarpuria from Dwarka courts complex.

Rahul, a resident of outer Delhi’s Sultanpuri, was arrested from outside the Rohini court complex when he came to meet Neeraj Bawana, who was brought to the court for hearing from Tihar Jail. Bawana was arrested last year for threatening and making extortion calls to a Delhi Congress MLA Jaswant Rana.

Ravindra Yadav, additional CP(crime), said Rahul is involved in eight criminal cases and was wanted for conspiring escape of Vikas Laggarpuria from the police custody.
