The Supreme Court on Friday fixed May 13 to hear the plea of dentist couple Nupur and Rajesh Talwar, accused of killing their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj, to call 14 “crucial” witnesses who were dropped by the CBI during the murder trial.

A bench of justice AK Patnaik and justice AK Sikri adjourned the matter due to paucity of time. Talwars’ counsel mentioned the case after the bench completed its regular matters. Since the court was rising, it said the plea will be heard by a vacation bench as the SC is closing for summer break.

On an urgent mentioning by their counsel, a bench headed by Chief Justice Altamas Kabir directed listing of the Talwars’ petition on Friday. Even the special CBI court in Ghaziabad is scheduled to hold a hearing of the trial on the same day.The Talwar couple have approached the apex court challenging the order of the special CBI court rejecting their plea for calling 14 other witnesses, including ADG (Law and Order) and the then CBI Joint Director Arun Kumar, to record their statements.
