A woman and her minor daughter were murdered inside their west Delhi residence this afternoon, with police suspecting the role of someone known to the victims behind the crime.
The incident was reported from Rohini Sector 1 in Outer Delhi at around 2:15pm. The victims have been identified as Yasmin, 34, and her 5-year-old daughter Sufia.
Investigators suspect that a relative or someone known to the victims was behind the incident. "There was no ransacking inside the house," a police official said.
The assailants also tried to burn the woman after slitting her throat, the police official said. Yasmin was found dead on the floor of a room, while her daughter's body lay on the bed.
