400 cases disposed of last month, says Chief Justice Kabir
Patiala: Over 400 cases of crime against women, including rape cases, have been disposed of in trial courts across the country last month, Chief Justice of India Altamas Kabir said on Saturday.

There is need to pay more attention to crimes against women, elderly and children, the Chief Justice told the first convocation of the Rajiv Gandhi National Law University here.Fast-track courts are being set up in consultations with Centre and state, he said.

BJP leader held for molesting girl
Gopeshwar: A local BJP leader was arrested in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand for allegedly molesting a 15-year-old girl about a fortnight ago, police said here on Saturday.

The leader, Ram Prasad Sati, had offered the girl a lift in his car while she going home on January 14, victim's father said in his police complaint.

Teen raped, accused still at large
Barabanki: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth in Jaidpur area, police said here on Saturday. The minor was raped by one Anil Kumar,22, when she had gone out of her house on Thursday night, they said.

A case was lodged on Friday and efforts were being made to arrest Kumar, who was still at large, police said. 

Six-year-old girl raped in Bangalore
Bangalore: A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified person in Bangalore rural district, police said on Saturday. Following a complaint lodged by the girl's parents, a case has been registered, police said.
