A police investigation team from Kerala that has come to Odisha to probe a case of forgery and impersonation by Bitihotra 'Bitti' Mohanty alias Raghav Rajan on Saturday ruled out involvement of his father, former Odisha cop BB Mohanty, in the case.

The team interrogated Mohanty, former director general of fire services and home guard, for more than four hours in Cuttack, about 30 km east of Bhubaneswar, to establish if he helped his son forge his educational documents in the name of Raghav Rajan.

"During our interrogation and investigation, we have not found any information pointing to his involvement in this case (of forgery and impersonation)," investigating officer Joji Joseph told reporters.

He, however, said the team has gathered enough documents to establish that Bitti was Raghav.

On Friday, the team had found that the matriculation, Plus Two and B Tech certificates issued in the name of Bitti were later forged in the name of Raghav.

On March 21, 2006, a fast track court had convicted Bitihotra (now 31) for raping a German girl in Alwar in Rajasthan. In November same year, he jumped a 15-day parole and was on the run since then.

He was arrested in Kerala on March 9 where he was working in the State Bank of Travancore as a probationary officer in the name of Raghav. He had obtained the job by providing certificates in the name of Raghav and even secured an MBA degree.
