Barely a few days after the department of education started a pay-verification cell for the authentication of claims of university and college teachers, protests have begun.
The joint action committee of Federation of University Teachers' Associations of Bihar (FUTAB) and Federation of University (Service) Teachers' Associations of Bihar (FUSTAB) on Monday announced that no teacher would fill up the form issued by the cell of Bihar government.
Terming the cell unnecessary, FUTAB and FUSTAB general secretaries Sanjay Kumar Singh and Dilip Kumar Chaudhary said it was yet another ploy of the government to deny timely payment of salary and arrears to college, university teachers and employees.
In the past, pay verification cell had become a centre of bribery, as the teachers were harassed. They have issued a voluminous format requiring every teacher to answer 40 different queries with supporting documents.
Why should any teacher having worked for 30-35 years run around the government office, they added. PU democratic teachers forum convener, NK Choudhary also condemned the governmentfs move. This is strange. Has the government been paying salary without any verification all these years? he added.
