Puducherry Lt Governor Iqbal Singh contributed to the Armed Forces Flag Day fund on the occasion of the celebration of the Flag Day here on Tuesday.
Chief Minister V Vaithilingam also made his contributions and handed shields to the departments that had done well in mobilisation of funds during last year (2009-2010) in the Union Territory.
"Directorate of Education bagged the shield for the highest collection of Rs. 11.09 lakh. The Union Territory`s total contribution was Rs. 31.39 lakh," an official source said.
Chief Secretary R Chandramohan and Director of Sainik Welfare Board in Puducherry M S Sundaram were among those present.
