The Punjab Congress will move the Punjab and Haryana high court for ensuring implementation of promises made by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in its manifesto for the 2012 assembly elections.

This was stated by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Partap Singh Bajwa while talking to media-persons at Chamkaur Sahib on Wednesday.

Bajwa alleged that the SAD had committed a fraud with people of the state by not fulfilling poll promises, including providing Rs. 1,000 unemployment allowance to the youth, increasing Shagun scheme money to Rs. 31,000 and making Punjab a power-surplus state.

He said Congress workers had been asked to distribute copies of the SAD manifesto to people across the state to make them aware of the SAD's "betrayal".

Bajwa said he would constitute a five-member fact-finding team after the zila parishad and panchayat samiti elections which would look into complaints regarding alleged high-handedness of the ruling alliance in the polls, adding that the team's report would be submitted to the party high command.

Earlier, addressing a party rally at Chamkaur Sahib in connection with the upcoming zila parishad and panchayat samiti elections, Bajwa said the SAD-BJP government had failed on all fronts and the Badal family was "looting the state with both hands".

Anandpur Sahib MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, Chamkaur Sahib MLA Charanjit Singh Channi, former MLA Bhag Singh and district Congress committee president Sukhwinder Singh Saini were present on the occasion.
