The family of the Delhi gang rape victim, who died on December 29, is okay with naming the revised anti-rape law after her, as proposed recently by a union minister. “We agree with the suggestion. It would be a matter of pride for my sister,” her brother told HT from the family’s
ancestral home in Ballia in UP.

On Tuesday, minister of state for HRD Shashi Tharoor suggested that the revised law be named after the victim as “she was a human being w/a name, not just a symbol”.

The brother claimed that after a 30-minute meeting on whether they should allow the name to be made public, the family decided to give a go-ahead to it.
