Lieutenant governor Tejendra Khanna suspended two assistant commissioners of Delhi police and also issued show-cause notices to two deputy commissioners for showing laxity in their job, which probably led to the incident.

“Prima facie we found that the PCR and traffic police
didn’t do their job with responsibility,” Khanna told reporters.

“We have placed ACP traffic of that area Mohan Dabas and ACP of PCR Yadram on immediate suspension. We have also called explanation from their supervisory officers: DCP traffic Prem Nath and DCP (PCR) Satbir Katara,” Khanna said.

“Complacency among the ground level staff cannot be tolerated. It was a big mistake,” he said.

He said transport department has also been told to include the photo identity in the public service badge issued to the drivers.

“Such demonstrations were necessary to bring government’s attention. In future, police would work with restrictions in such cases and with minimum force,” he said about the protests.
