While it is a known fact that the Pakistan army and ISI have been anti-India, there was an inkling of hope that the civilian government might be for good ties with India. That hope has now been put to rest.

  • Modi and Advani
    Oct 18, 2013 22:56 IST

    Vox pop

With senior BJP leader LK Advani giving his support to the party’s PM candidate and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, it will be hard for the rival parties to exploit the internal rifts within the BJP.

  • Child marriage

    Vox pop

With reference to the editorial An end to childhood (Our Take, October 17), it is appalling that half a century after social reformer Rammohun Roy fought against child marriage, India still has the highest number of child brides.

  • Modi
    Oct 16, 2013 22:58 IST

    Vox pop

People do not want to see a government in Delhi that is draped in the RSS philosophy. That the BJP itself is aware of the prevailing sentiments is testified in Nardendra Modi’s comment on ‘toilets first, temples later’

With reference to the editorial Reason gets crowded out (October 15), it is tragic that 115 people lost their lives in a stampede on a crowded bridge across Sindh river leading to the Ratangarh temple in Datia district of Madhya Pradesh.

  • Cyclone Phailin
    Oct 14, 2013 22:48 IST

    Vox Pop

The disaster preparedness of various government agencies like state forces and the centrally deployed NDMA, NDRF and Army for Cyclone Phailin that helped reduce the number of casualties was indeed exemplary.

  • Aam Aadmi Party

    Vox pop

The people are fed up with the Congress government in the state and the BJP-led MCD. To the AAP’s advantage, both the major parties have ignored the new party thinking that it will not be a serious contender.

  • Narendra Modi
    Oct 13, 2013 01:04 IST

    Sunday letters

With reference to the article Modi is speaking and India is listening, it cannot be denied that Narendra Modi’s elevation as the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate has infused a new energy into the party’s rank and file.

  • Sachin Tendulkar
    Oct 11, 2013 22:53 IST

    Vox pop

Sachin's real achievement is beyond records and numbers. It is his humility and the fact that he has never let his success go to his head that puts him a cut above the rest.

  • M Veerappa Moily
    Oct 11, 2013 00:00 IST

    Vox Pop

I don’t think anyone will be impressed if Veerappa Moily and others use public transport or a carpool to commute to office. If these politicians are really serious about cutting costs, they should limit the number of vehicles in their cavalcade.

  • Anti-Telangana activists
    Oct 09, 2013 23:21 IST

    Vox Pop

The fact that even the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and the Congress government at the Centre are not on the same page about the creation of Telangana clearly suggests that concerns of the people of Seemandhra remain unaddressed.

  • Telangana

With reference to total blackout in Seemandhra, Naidu attacks Sonia in Delhi (October 8), it is unfortunate that the people of Andhra Pradesh have to suffer because of the ad-hoc decision taken by the central government.

  • Are we really caring enough for senior citizens?
    Oct 07, 2013 22:32 IST

    Vox pop

They are definitely a very good alternative to run-down old-age homes but because of the high prices they are occupied by senior citizens who are either financially independent or can live off their retirement savings. What about poor senior citizens who neither have savings nor have children to look after them?

  • Supreme Court
    Oct 03, 2013 21:51 IST

    Vox pop

The Cabinet's decision to withdraw the ordinance on convicted lawmakers as well as the Bill that sought to amend the Representation of the People Act is welcome.

  • Lalu Yadav

    Vox pop

This refers to No more in cloud Laluland (Our take, October 1). The CBI special court’s verdict indicting former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad in a fodder scam case is proof that no politician is above the law of the land.
