Arjun Rampal
Arjun Rampal’s Lap is the official party host this weekend as Formula 1 makes a much-hyped debut in India. Pointing out that it made sense for a sport that’s known as much for its car races as for its million-dollar lifestyle to associate with his lifestyle club-lounge that is one of the
capital’s most popular hot spots today, the proud actor-owner promises, “We’ll show the world how India parties.”

Prudently he refuses to reveal the guest list pointing out that it’s a matter of trust and guarding his guests’ privacy but is confident of a great turnout as popstar Lady Gaga, his Bollywood friends and international A-listers rain glamour on Lap’s much-awaited after parties.

“For me the biggest thrill is that my own DJs who are the biggest in India will get to introduce Roger Sanchez and Edward Maya and play sets before the world-famous duo take over,” he exults.

For Arjun, it will be a weekend to remember with his movie, RA.One opening in theatres worldwide on Diwali and F1 coming to India. Will we see Shah Rukh Khan and Arjun in their blue and red body suits at Lap as a promotional gimmick for their superhero fantasy adventure? “I don’t think Shah Rukh or I will fit into our body suits now,” he laughs. “I had to lose six kilos and cut down drastically on body fat before I could squeeze into one when we were shooting. Yes, I’ve held on to one of those suits that I will keep in a glass showcase to remind me of the tortures I had to go through for it. But for this weekend, Shah Rukh and I will just put our feet up and chill. We deserve the break. ”

The 'bonkers' business logic of Formula 1 teams

The primary goals of any normal business are to be successful in its field; to add value to the company; and to make a profit. Other strategic goals include building a brand, becoming the market leader or expanding the business into new areas. Joe Saward writes.

F1 needs America to complete global jigsaw

If all goes to plan, this will be a big week for Formula 1 as it returns to the United States for the first time in five years. F1 has failed to break into the US market in the course of the last 30 years, having blown the foundations that were built at Watkins Glen and Long Beach in the 1970s.
